You would think I would know better since Nurses can be so superstitious. You never say the Q word…quiet..or slow or many other things. I know a nurse that had a really bad day when they brought a new pair a scissors and swear when she brings them she always has a rough day. Took my first patient with a brain bleed to the next biggest hospital because there was not another EMS to go with them. They were afraid the patient would crash before they got to the hospital about an hour away. Another few days later I went again with a patient that had a STEMI (heart attack) that was intubated and not doing well. Had to bag the patient all the way to the next hospital. So in learning that lesson I shall try to never say never…

I take it you don't like riding in the ambulance. lol
We had the same superstitions going in the lab when I worked.
#1. Never say the Q or S words.
#2. Never bring a large meal for lunch.
#3. Never say your QC ran perfect on the chemistry or hematology machines because they would certainly develop a big problem that would require the Service guy to come in and fix it and that would really slow you down on Morning Run-(morning blood collections from inhouse patients.
So yes! Never say never is right.
